Who – What – Where
In 2008, we — Gertjan de Zoete and Elly Schipper — decided to emigrate from the Netherlands to Extremadura. In the Netherlands, Gertjan worked as a professional photographer, while Elly was a secondary school teacher. After first visiting this inland region of Spain in 1995, we returned more than twenty times for holidays in the years that followed. In Extremadura, we found a true sense of space and tranquillity — a combination that is sadly becoming increasingly rare in Europe. Every visitor is genuinely surprised by this.
Close to Monfragüe National Park, in a highly strategic location, we have created five detached luxury holiday bungalows and a studio (which forms part of our own home).
Here, among the holm oaks, you can experience for yourself what makes Extremadura so special: peace and quiet, authenticity, cultural highlights and an abundance of nature — with remarkable bird species taking centre stage, such as black vultures, great bustards, the Spanish imperial eagle, hoopoes, azure magpies and, in winter, large numbers of common cranes.
